The new Laser Beam by Tumbl Trak™ is a visual-aid, floor training beam developed by Master Coach Leonard Isaacs. But it isn’t just a piece of equipment, it’s a training concept. The clearly marked lines and numbers teach athletes how to shift their balance of movement during different phases of various skills. Visualizing the numbers and lines is a strong corrective action toward staying on the beam.
The Laser Beam sits on the ground, so it is safer if they do go crooked. It is 6” wide which takes the fear out of trying to perfect a skill. Kids aren’t afraid to try new skills on the Laser Beam. The white lines are 4” apart, so beam workers still have the visual of whether they would have fallen off a regular 4” beam. (However, they won’t have fallen and will want to try the skill again and again.)
The lines help teach athletes the “balance” part of the Balance Beam by giving them immediate feedback on how their body moves through a skill. If athletes find that they continually step out of the white lines, especially when coming out of a handstand, they have the immediate feedback that (1) they would be missing the beam, and (2) they need to shift their center of gravity more toward the center blue line (#3) in order to stay on the beam. The Laser Beam also improves an athlete’s ability to FOCUS on proper positioning of feet and hands while on the beam. See your athlete’s confidence soar as they learn new skills quickly, successfully, and safely on the new Laser Beam.
